  • It’s February, and I’ve hit a cross roads. I’m about to graduate from college and I don’t know what to do. Should I take that big job offer in Washington D.C., or take my grad school admission, or something completely different? I happened to choose completely different, and turns out that completely different has brought me to Alaska driving coaches for Princess and Holland America. But this job is way more than just driving coaches. I got to drive 4200 miles across the country from Virginia, all by myself. I’ve been able to travel all over the state of Alaska, exploring places like Fort Yukon up in the Arctic Circle, and Copper Center in the beautiful Copper Valley next to the sky-blue colored Klutina River. I’ve gone whitewater rafting in Denali and 4-wheeling along the Klutina River. And so far I’ve met some truly life-long friends, and best of all (esp. for my parents), after some time off, I’ve decided to return to graduate school and get my masters in January. Working for the company has not only given me a chance to get away from home, but it was a great stepping stone to really figure out what I wanted to do with my life, and see quite a bit of Alaska for free at the same time! Now that it’s nearly September, I can’t wait to get home and share all my memories and truly amazing experiences with my friends and family. I’ll be telling stories from summer 2008 for many years to come for sure!
