Tour Director (returning) -- Escorted Tour Operations (Holland America)


Job Duties: Accompany tour groups of up to 52 guests through each segment of their Alaska Cruise tour while offering 5 star customer service to all guests at all times. Establish a team relationship with Driver Guides and all other company employees. Complete all paperwork associated with your tour including daily reports, luggage counts, sales reports, expense reports, etc. Inform and assist guests with booking optional land excursions plus any special requests pertaining to hotel, dietary and mobility issues. Strong knowledge of tour route to make personal recommendations throughout the tour. Expedite stops by giving suggestions for dining, entertainment, optional excursions and the following days' itinerary. Work with Driver Guide to arrange approved games and entertainment while onboard the motor coach. Represent Holland America in a professional manner, appearance, attitude and actions. Must be organized and professional Perform a daily luggage count. Available to guests, at a minimum, 1 hour before departure and 1 hour after arrival each day to answer questions and provide direction. Tour Directors should realize their services might be needed at other times and need to be available for emergencies 24 hours a day. Job Requirements: Must be 21 years of age. Must relocate to Alaska for the term of employment. Excellent customer service skills and a minimum of two years' experience in a customer service position. Excellent communication skills and public speaking experience. Must be able to commit to a 100-day season. Able to obtain a CPR and First Aid certificate prior to the season. Able to obtain a valid passport prior to the season. Sales experience preferred but not required. Must enjoy working with all types of people. Able to lift baggage weighing up to 75 lbs. Applicants MUST be able to gain entrance into Canada for this position and should be fully aware of the requirements for entry prior to accepting employment offers. Previous Convictions: Section 19 of Canada’s Immigration Act prohibits the admission of people who pose a threat to public health, safety, order, and national security. Prior to attempting a border crossing, American citizens who have had a criminal conviction in the past must contact the nearest Canadian embassy or consulate well in advance to determine their admissibility as visitors into Canada. If found inadmissible, an immigration officer will advise whether a waiver (Minister’s Permit) is possible. PLEASE NOTE: A criminal conviction in Canada is defined as both misdemeanors and felonies, including Juvenile convictions. Applicants hired into positions that cross into Canada will be subject to background checks by the Canadian government. Denial of entry into Canada will result in inability to complete job requirements and will therefore result in reassignment and/or termination of employment.
