Housing Options

Whitehorse Transportation Division does not provide any housing for its employees. The office is located in downtown Whitehorse. Single apartments are sometimes difficult to find to find and can be quite expensive, with rent starting at approx. $900 per month, depending on your necessities and location. Once hired however, names and contact information of employees looking for roommates will be shared if desired to assist with the process. Public transportation is available throughout the city. Our employees have found that a bike is your best bet if you do not have a car. Whitehorse has a wonderful bike trail system that can get you anywhere in the city. Grocery stores, malls, and post offices are all easily accessible by public transportation and bike trails. The cost of living in Whitehorse is similar to living in Vancouver or Toronto.

Typical Season:

Early May through early September, some positions start in April for training purposes.

Transportation to Whitehorse: You are responsible for your own costs of getting to and leaving from Whitehorse at the beginning and end of the season.  There are 2 major airlines that fly into Whitehorse:  www.aircanada.ca and www.flyairnorth.ca. You can also drive your personal vehicle or choose to take the Greyhound bus.

Out of Country Applicants

If you are not a Canadian Citizen, you must first obtain a working VISA before you apply for a Canadian position regardless of what country you currently reside.  There are many different agencies that you can contact.
