During the summer months from May to September, the guests are mostly tourists. From October to April, the clients are mostly business travelers. Some of the highlights include the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline and the University of Alaska at Fairbanks Museum (which houses some of the finest displays depicting Alaska’s history in the state). Located in the Interior Region of the state, Fairbanks is known as the Golden Heart of Alaska. This community on the banks of the Chena River is known for friendly people and extreme temperatures ranging from 40 degrees below zero in the winter to 80 degree temperatures in the summer. Because of the convenient downtown location, much of the housing in Fairbanks is within walking or biking distance from the hotel. There is a limited bus route available. Employees are required to pay for their own airfare to Alaska. Holland America Princess, upon request, will make the airfare arrangements and will provide payroll deduction for the employee to repay the cost.
