Jase- Line Cook

When I applied to be a line cook at the Kenai Princess Lodge, I had no idea what to expect or what I was getting myself into. I have had nothing but pleasant surprises, positive interactions and good times since I’ve gotten here. Every single one of my co-workers are excited to be in Alaska and we’re always spending time outdoors, hiking, canoeing and exploring our beautiful surroundings. We even have fun during work, everyone has a positive attitude which makes work fly by; there are always some good tunes playing in the kitchen and the whole staff ends up belting out “Stand by Me” acappella at the end of the night. I remember the Kenai Fjords Tour we took in the beginning of the summer very well; while experiencing some of Alaska’s natural beauty I was finding out about all of my co-workers and becoming good friends with them. The tour itself was amazing; we got to see sea otters, orca whales, sea lions, harbor seals and even a humpback. One of the best parts of my experience thus far has been meeting all sorts of amazing people that, had I not come to Alaska, I would have never had the opportunity to meet. It’s hard to believe that my summer here is almost over, but I know that with some hard work and a little bit of good planning, I’ll be back next summer to do it again.
