Being a cook in Alaska is a great way to build your culinary resume. We offer seasonal jobs at our Westmark and Princess Wilderness Lodges locations, as well as for our rail services area. Learn about some of the opportunities we provide and why you should consider putting your culinary skills to work for us in Alaska!
You will gain key culinary experience
Alaska Tour Jobs offers dozens of types of seasonal positions in the culinary field. We need bakers, line cooks, prep cooks, chefs and sous chefs at our lodges and rail services sites. Many of our jobs require some previous experience or culinary training, so searching the requirements of each culinary position will help you find the right one for you. Have experience cooking in one area but looking to build skills in another? A seasonal position with us can help expand your culinary repertoire. You may have the chance to work with Alaska specialty seafood dishes like king crab and salmon. Have you worked as a line cook and are now seeking some experience with supervising a team? A job with us may offer that opportunity. Remember, anyone who works with food in Alaska, including chefs, cooks, and servers is required to hold a Food Worker Card, which costs $10 and can be obtained online.
You will impress your future employers
The experience you can gain from working a seasonal job in the fast-paced environment of a tourist lodge will give you the kinds of culinary and employment skills that you can carry with you as you build your career. Employers want to know they’re hiring good cooks and chefs who know how to handle a wide variety and number of orders simultaneously. They also want employees who are professional, can communicate well, work well on a team and perform with the highest work ethic.
You’ll also show employers your intrepid spirit by having worked in Alaska. No matter which lodge or cooking job you experience, you’ll demonstrate your skills and gain valuable experience throughout the season that you can use in the future.
