The expectations for working in Alaska for a summer were pretty high for me. I knew of the beauty and adventure that goes with this state. Being a novice outdoorsman and a little older than the average seasonal worker, I still embraced the opportunity to cook for Princess Lodges. I have to say I set my expectations too low. I am amazed at the true sense of team and family we have here. Beyond one of the healthiest and happiest work environments I have ever been part of, the friendships and adventures once you punch off the clock are epic. I have pushed myself to new limits hiking, fishing and truly seeing a part of the world that needs to be seen. Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge had given me the opportunity to experience an amazing summer with incredible people. I think I’m taking that and making the most out of it, it’s hard not too when surrounded by such beauty and great people. You know how photos are described as not even catching a fraction of the beauty? What one can make out of a summer here lacks definition; it’s something that has to be experienced.
